needed to measure the crank hole on the hood nose for a buddy, and i already had bondo on it.. bent the grill pieces out as straight as Icould.. one ain't perfect.. but it's kinda thin, so didn't want to screwitup andhave to solder or tack weld it, .. just got it as close asitcould be and went... then I buffed it down, then sanded the piece, then shot some brown primer on it.
that piece will just have to hand a while till the rest of the tractor is in shape for some primer and paint. used valspar rusty metal primer.. was hoping it was a match for ustoleum rattle can, but a spot test on hte back showed no.
no biggie.. i have a 4 oz touch up gun for shooting the small stuff.. just a lil more cleaning.
the valspar rattle cans are too expensive to buy.. speaking of that.. getting hard to find quarts.. most places want to sell you gallons!
pics are bondo, buffed bondo .. used a 3m wheel onit after that to take the paint down.. wasrelieved to see no pitting under the paint.. good clean piece.
wiped down with terrycloth towell and some mineral spirits, hung and shot a whole 2oz maybee..
40 minutes metal prep, 1-2 minutes mixing reducer and primer, 45 seconds of shooting, and 5 minutes of cleaning the gun...
just ain't right..
