Bn spark plug wires

I am just wondering the best place to get spark plug wires for my 1945 bn. The ones that are on it i know are not correct. Just want to replace them. Thanks for your input

Todd, I wish I could steer you right, but I make all my own wires, so wouldn't know where to send you. I will share this though, only use copper core wires. The ignition system likes copper, especially if it is a magneto.

I know TSC sells copper wire sets, but I have no idea of the quality of them. Others here may be able to comment. If you are inclined, I would buy the bulk wire and make your own. Not that difficult of a job. Napa sells all the components.

It has a mag, but never made my own. How hard is it to make them. I know you need the rubber hood and cover so I would be lost. The ones on it ,I know are incorrect. One I have hanging off the hood latch so it does not hang done.

Thanks for your input tom

Todd, no problem. They are actually very easy to make. Napa sells the wire, the plug end, the mag end, and boots for both. If you can strip a wire, you can make a set of plug wires.

Most of the parts from Napa have a sharp metal tab in them that pierces the wire insulation. I like to strip the wire back a little and fold the wire back over the end just enough to fit into the fitting. Even at your first time to make your own, shouldn't take you more than 30 mins tops.

I have a Rajah crimper and use Rajah terminals. they are the best, IMHO but actually take a little more time and effort. Rajah terminals (ends) use solder as well as the crimp to do them correctly. They are the Cadillac of spark plug wire components. IMHO.

K but how do I know the length that it need for each one. I but a few items from Stiener and was not happy with them so that is why I am looking some place else

napa should have a cut to fit set too.. I'd call TSC before I headed out.. they have changed alot of their tractor parts stock lately..

Todd...I bought a set of "cut to fit" wires from NAPA for my Farmall 140 and have been very happy with them. I had never made my own before and it was very easy and straightforward. As far as knowing how long to make them, I used the old ones as a pattern and then added an inch (the old ones seemed just a bit short and stretched). One tip I would give is to lay out each wire with the ends and boots to make sure you use the correct boot for the correct wire. One boot in the NAPA set (for my 4 cyl) was slightly different and it was for the center of the distributor. If I hadn't caught that fact I probably would have put it on the wrong length of wire and then would have wasted a set.

Porch Electric, they mfg. plug wires. They advertise in Red Power.Very good quality and very reasonable. Bought a set for my H,look orignal and fit perfect. Also they are real wire. Jim
