A won't shut off revisited

Yesterday I posted about a problem with my A with a H4 mag I just got running with not being able to shut it off, even with a screw driver trying to short out the terminal. I got it apart this morning - 1st time I've ever been inside a H4 mag. I have a wire from the points to the condenser and a second wire from the coil to the condenser. Both wires are together against the condenser and then there is an inside and outside bakelite washer, then the nut that holds everything to the side of the mag. Is it possible one of the wires is attached in the wrong order on the terminal?

yes. The important issue is that every one of those wires and conducting posts contact each other, and not the case as it passes through. A good grounded jumper wire from the chassis of the tractor on a shiny metal place should stop it cold when touched to the terminal on the outside of the mag. When the points are closed, the same thing happens. Grounded coil. When the terminal is grounded, it is like the points never open. Jim
