1951 Farmall M -- M&W live hydraulic pump with two valve remote control. I am having problems with oil coming out of the vent cap. Any suggestions on how this problem can be resolved? Someone advised me to change the type of oil I am using. I am currently using IH Hy-tran hydraulic oil & still encounter the same issues. Thank you!

When you say"vent cap",are you meaning the fill cap on your belly pump reservoir????

Do you have your hydraulic return hose plumbed into the fill tube on your belly pump reservoir???

Solution is easy put the return hose into a "T" and close nipple in the drain of the reservoir(or liftall used as a reservoir) Jim

Changing fluid won't make a bit of difference.

You should be using a non-vented cap when you are running two-way hydraulics. The christmas tree two-way valve came with a cap that had a vent you could close for two-way operation.

Also, you may be topping off the reservoir at the wrong time. Make sure you top off the reservoir with any cylinders completely retracted.

It takes more fluid to extend the cylinder than it does to retract, because the cylinder's rod is taking up some of the space inside. When the cylinder is retracted, that will be the point where you will have the maximum amount of fluid in the reservoir.

If you top off the reservoir with the cylinder extended, the excess oil will need to go SOMEWHERE, and that somewhere is out the vent hole.

Yes, it is the belly pump reservoir and I am having troubles without any hydraulic implements hooked up.

Get a regular pipe cap from the local hardware store and put it on in place of the vented cap.

As I said before, two-way hydraulics are not supposed to have a vented cap.
