Woods l59 on A

I found an l59 woods for sale with brackets for an Allis B. The price is good. Are brackets for an A available new? How much might they cost? This mower is $100 and others I have seen are around $500, but the others had the right brackets. I had heard that an l59 will not work on an A, it has to be a 59? Is this true? Thanks for any help,
Josh

Go to the Woods mower site. They have a whole section on mounting their mowers on antique tractors. Also, they have info on mounts.

Josh, I think the brackets are still available. They were a few years ago anyway.

I priced them through Carter & Gruenwald's online parts system just for kicks, and you would be better off buying the $500 mower with the right brackets.

You will not save any money, unless you fabricate your own brackets.

Another thing missing from the Allis brackets, is the drive pulley that fits in place of the flat belt pulley on the A. You can't use the 540 PTO because that requires a 21" pulley, and there isn't room.

The L59 is the correct mower for the A or the Super A. The A would require the manual lift set up since there are no hydraulics on the A. I think the brackets are probably still available from Woods, but it's likely cheaper to buy the mower that has the correct brackets and drive pulley.

All you need to do to reverse the blades is reroute the belt on the center idler which will make blades rotate either right or left BUT that all depends on the spindles whether they are left or right ones. Threads are different.
