Has anyone had any luck using two gaskets when the exhaurt manifold is eroded away somewhat? It s on a Super M. Thanks in advance to anyone who comment.

How bad is the errosion????(Like laying a straight edge across and feeler gauging it ???)Have you took a grinding disc and knocked off all of the loose "crud/rust" yet????

I used Red hi temp silicone on my gasket, but the erroded part wasnt much over 1/16" in.

If it is REAL bad,how about having it surface milled???

I took my manifold to Midwest Cylinder Head in Nevada, IA and they milled the surface completely flat for $36. The manifold and head now mate up perfectly! Of course the head was milled too when I took it in for a rebuild...I don't think I could have doubled up on gaskets and make mine leak free. The problem was that the manifold just wasn't flat and no matter how much i tightened the nuts onto the studs, it would still leak.

good luck

Farrviewest has the correct answer. Have the gasket surface milled. Shouldn't cost that much and will do the job right. 2 gaskets is just asking for trouble.
