B Questions

Got a couple of questions about my B. Are the correct front tires 400 or 500? Different people are telling me different sizes.

Also, I been working on the carb and it runs great. When I idle down from fast slowly it doesn't seem to drop to the idle speed I want (still runs kinda fast). If I jump it down quickly from a high rev to idle it jumps down and maintains a much slower idle. What am I missing or need to adjust?

Thanks for your help.

The 4.00 were what came on them when new. Your gov and the linkage is worn and also mite not be adjusted correct.

The standard front tire on a B was 6.00x12. A 7.50x10 was optional, as was a pair of 4.00-15 or 5.00x15.

Yeah, I think 4.00-15 fronts and 9-24 rears were stock. 5.00-15 are OK too according to the manual(page 48). Copy and paste below...

As to your throttle. First make sure the linkage is free from binding and lubricated. Then there are three adjustments on the governor. First is the clevice on the linkage between the governor and the carburator. Second is the bolt and lock nut on top of the governor, it adjusts no load high rpm. Third is the acorn nut, screw, and locknut on the bottom of the governor, that is the bumper screw. Bumper screw too tight might cause low speed problems, bumper screw too loose and the engine will hunt. Shut the tractor down before any adjustments. You might want to get an IT manual to read all the proceedures for those adjustments. Or search "governor" on the archives here on YT.
Best Regards,
Charlie
