farmall 706 parking brake

The parking brake is a mechanical gear lock, a pawl inside the transmission engages the reverse gear, usually what fails is the linkage that operates it to engage or disengage, it is under the metal floor foot plate, the linkage has hex long adjusting nut with a rht thread L-link & lht L-link, common for lht end to be bent. You probably cant bend it back so it will stay, brittle metal. Get a replacement from Hi-Capacity, its spring loaded to minimize this.

well it all depends on what happened . IF it still has the old over center linkage then hopefully she is way out of adjustment. and it just jumped over the gear. BUT if it did not just jump over the gear and it took teeth off that gear then you are in for a lot of work . Tractor has to have a rear split and tires and wheels have to come off rock shaft housing needs to come off transmission coves have to come off and the list goes on as that gear will be the last out and first back in . Then when your done and before you put the top transmission cover on i would recommend that you install the new spring loaded park lock loc. Oh and always before you engage the park lock make sure that the transmission is IN neutral and your foot is OFF the clutch.
