Farmall 340 gas had reversed battery cables.

I bought a 340 from a neighbor, and when I went to pick it up he put a 6 volt battery in, used one that he had taken off for the winter, started the tractor and I drove it home. I have been using it fro about a week or two and found that it was apparantly loosing its battery. Not knowing the tractor I read the manual and found that it was meant to be positive ground. I looked and he had put the battery in backwards. I did change the battery back around to positive ground and it again started a little hard due to the drained battery, but after starting it and running it for a while, it seemed to charge its self up. Having this all said, what are the issues to look for now. Did he set me into a spin of replacing electrical components from front to back, or do I leave well enough alone and be happy that it starts, runs and the lights work. Anything that I should be checking? Thanks for the help!

Sounds like everything is ok.
Reversing the battery cables will damage an alternator. If it has an generator and not charging, a person might need to polarize the generator.

If it has a generator, the battery and generator do not care which post is grounded. You will probably eventually damage the voltage regulator if the one you have is marked positive ground and you run it negative ground. The generator needs to be polarized, though, or it won't charge.
