Farmall H Cultivators

Hey guys! Bought a set of mounted cultivators for my H today. Going back to pick them up this weekend as I did not have my trailer and the guy did not have everything unbolted from his tractor. Anyway, it is a 2-row setup with hydraulic lift. Wondering what models it may be or if anyone can ID from this picture? Also, if anyone has any tips or pictures to help me get them mounted on my H that would be great! Thanks again!

It looks like a HM-238. If he took it off an H it will fit an H, and should fit an M without any problems. I know on a 461 you needed filler bars to put on an M. I will look for a manual but with field work going on it will be a few days if I can remember.

We had used the very same cultivators on our tractors when I was a kid.

Spent many a long day atop a tractor seat staring down the corn rows ... yeesh.

They are definitely a finger pincher when trying to mount these. My grandpa showed a couple neat tricks to lever it up there and I was mounting these myself when I was 10 or years old.

A good find and they look almost complete in the photo.

IF this is the same model you will need the hanger that bolts to the front of bolster to hold the stay rods mounted to the main mast.

I agree HM-238 most likely. I also spent many hours on a tractor with one of these, and with the rear unit on also. Better on an H than M, H is easier to steer and manuver, and uses less gas. A real bear to mount by yourself ! But I have done it alone, til I got smart and bought an old A-frame with a chain-fall hoist, then it was almost easy ! Mine was converted to rolling shields. Your shields look to be in good shape.

No, it is not a 238. A 238 had the cyclinders attached to the rear axle. His has the cyclinders beside the engine.

Be sure to get the cyclinders if they are available, the rear section and the rear lifting mechanism.

I picked up a set for free for repairing a water pump on an H. They are manual lift but still in ok shape. My Pap had a set for his H that he buried in a landfill behind the house.... Still not happy about that. Those cultivators, a one bottom plow, and good set of disc are in the ground.... Sad to say that...

(quoted from post at 14:09:12 11/01/11) How can you tell from the photo and what model might it be if not an HM-238? Thanks!

I think one of the cultivators that had the cylinders in the front was the HM-250. Do you have more pictures?

Not at the moment, I will have more this weekend. Guy said he has used them in the past and that he has everything for them (including the cylinders) even though its not all pictured.
