Hello. I have to change out the crankshaft pulley and it look like I have to change the seal also. the pulley looks as if it is machined on the end. What do you all recommend? Do you have a part number for this from like NAPA? Know that you can usually get items there like that. All you HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS

Every model of tractor, and some even within models can use differing methods of removal. We cannot give you the methods Without knowing what you are working on. Model, year, features, accessories, Some are modestly easy, most are terrible. (compared to swapping out wiper blades)Jim

When I did an A I unbolted the front wheels from the engine block and rolled the steering wheel and wheels out from under the tractor. You need to support the engine well. I think I removed the radiator too. You probably will need a good puller and a big split bearing separator to remove the damper pulley. Don't pull from the outer edges of the pulley as they're easily broken. You need to check the surface of the pulley hub for a worn groove from the old seal. They have speedi-sleeve's to cover that surface available at Napa and the seal too. Hal

Even using the right tools the pulleys will break. Hal

What makes you think you need to change the pulley as they dont go bad just can get a small grouve where the seal has worn it some then you need the speedy sleeve. The entire front steering assy needs to be removed to get the pulley off and replace the front seal on the crank..

Well, thought I would change it as I want to change the pulley. Guess I really dont have to do that but you can not start it by hand. It is not leaking now.

You mean the fitting that the crank fits in is worn out? Never heard of anyone changing a pulley, unless broken like below. If the fitting is not worn out you have nothing to gain, except learning how to remove and install it.

You could have a crank ratchet made to fit on the front of the existing pulley. It would thread into the the crank, and rest against the machines surface mentioned. Jim
