First plow day I have attended.Didnt quit get my "Rig"(Super M and #16 plow) together for today(Saturday)So I went to watch.(Wasnt feeling well Fri night, didnt feel like staying up till midnight to get it all loaded.)

When I got up there,I watched awhile. When one of the members stopped on His 54 Super H,PULING 3x14's !!!!,I went over to admire it and asked a few questions about it.(350 bore kit, fire crater pistons, ect)He asked me if I wanted to make a pass on it,I refused at first,(dont usually ride another man's "horse"as a rule of thumb)but he assured me it was OK.
As I have ALWAYS known, them tractor guys are OK in my Book !!!!I told him next year,he could pull the throttle open on mine.

It is a fellowship of common goals and adventure. Very nice opportunity. Send him a fifth of the finest. Jim

ABSOLUTELY JIM !!!!

That aint no S@#T I was talking! I WILL honestly let him make a pass on MY Farmall Super M next Plow Day!

I still cannot believe he let me do that!

BTW,His Super H had some "giddy up" to it !!!!

No Sir !!!!,

It had rained 2 days earlier, was kind of muddy in the field, but this thing kept on digging!!!!NO mud packed in between the land tires.

As you can see,I was one of the last passes in the furrow. At the last,I straddled the furrows on both sides.I had BOTH rears hanging off the un plowed ground and the plow on HARD ground.Just kept going!!!! :)

Hi Mike!We had a small pull this aftrenoon, one of our members had to leave early(left his tractor),said I could pull his SC.What a blast!Another mamber regularly 'shares' his hopped JD 'G'.Again-A Blasst!Tractor pullers are the greatest! Thanks!!!

No sir I dont! lol

Nothing like going out in front of a bunch of season veterans and dropping the trip rope out from under my butt just to have the tractor owner handing it back to me! :)

(quoted from post at 06:08:06 10/30/11) Proper placement is under right cheek, never, ever in the middle. Lesson from my dad.

I tied mine to a hitch pin clip and then clip that to the seat. It is right there, but if the plow unhooks you don't die because the rope has a breakaway.

Looks like you had fun at the plow day. Bummer you didn"t take your tractor. There will be next year.

I am a little surprised that the fella let you run his tractor. A few friends and neighbors and I swap tractors from time to time at our local plow day... but we all know each other. Definetly fun.

Take care. -Andy

When I bought my Super M,it had a "dog clip" on the bottom on the pan seat.I knew it had some trip plow usage on it.

I have heard it is best to secure your trip rope with a small piece of fence wire with a little twist in it for a "break away."

Surprisingly,no one had their ropes fastened to anything.just sitting on them.

Yea Andy,

Like I said earlier, next year I will hunt him down and offer him the first pass on my rig!

I will be there next year! :)

We always tied the trip rope to the upper end of the furrow wheel lever. A little farther to reach for it, but saves some time by not having to re-fasten the rope each time the plow unhooks. Also that was on a standard tread tractor so we sat a little lower than the row crop styles.

Hey Mike, Dwayne Hansford here, Thanks for the great comments about our plow day and the pictures are great as well from the 29th. The fellow that owns the SH is greatly appreciative of your comments as well. Come and join us next year and stay in touch for future activities.

Are the lights on that Super correct for that period? I helped a friend put new lights on a Super M earlier this year and we put the same style of light as is on a regular M. Maybe we did that wrong???

Ron, those lights are correct on a super H or super M all the way up to a hundred or fifty series tractor. Maybe a few of the late M's or H's built before the supers had the sealed beam headlights. I'm not certain on that but maybe some others here would know for sure. I'd highly doubt anuthing before 1951 had sealed beam headlights.
