The closed center system has more controls. In addition to the normal auxiliary control levers there will be one smaller lever near the floor for each valve. The grips on the levers will be color coded instead of just all black.

The closed center system has flow control levers right below the operating levers. Reason I ask is they are much more complex and could have several different problems. If it lifts some cold I would guess it is open center, early model. Easiest thing to try first is relief valve located in rear housing under fuel tank. Plug with 1 1/8th head, and valve has screen in end. Can just try one from most any IH tractor from 06 series to 86 series. There are different pressure ones of course but any one would help you determine problem. I should have said first off though, be sure your position control lever for hitch is not all the way forward into action control portion of quadrant as that bypasses part of the oil flow to dump. Next most likely sudden onset of problem is blown o-ring on pump mounting to rear frame. You drain rear end and pull pump out of side, down left side, behind aux fuel tank. No split necessary.
