Farmall 656

Oh, don't know why I am even considering this. There is a 656 been sitting along one of the roads I go down occasionally. 3 years now. Looks like a gasser. Front right axle spindle busted. Otherwise looks like it is all there.

If it doesn't have an F in front of the number, or a letter, I know NOTHING about 'em.

Something is making me "itch" to ask the farmer what is wrong with it and if he wants to sell it.

Wanted to get feedback here and talk me off the "rescue" ledge.........I got plenty of work on what I already own.........

Buy it and resell it to finance the fleet, or sell a different unit to have it! GO GET IT ! Jim

Ok, something in the first 2 responses tells me that a 656 WF gasser is a good tractor..................

Tom we farmed with 656 tractors. 60 HP
4 plow tractor. Very versatile big enough
to pull a load, small enough for errand
work. We had grandpa's dual and pulled
a ten foot disk with it. Fairly easy tractor
to work on.

Well, stopped in at the farm where the 656 is. She is a diesel, not a gasser. runs, but smokes. Has a knock. Front spindle isn't broken, just was removed to replace bushings.

So, 2 brothers own the farm, and said they are considering fixin' her up. They also have an M. Instead of them being willing to sell, they tried to convince me to "do the engine work" for them. They know where I live, and have seen my tractors.

Not sure where this is going to end up, but I am not currently in the repair business.......hardly have time to work on mine. Nice folks though.
