Hows this for worn out

I took this out of my 400. There isn't much left of those splines, but you should see the drive shaft and coupling that it hooks up to. You could just about shave with it. Finding these parts is becoming quite a pill. I've checked the big nams folks, but they mostly have parts for T/A tractors, and mine is non TA so the search is on!

A lot of non-TA tractors were sold in the south, because the hired help was mostly tractor drivers, not operators -- not my statement, just what I have read on this forum from people who live there. Having grown up in south TX, mostly before the TA, I can understand that.

Thats a common thing on a well used non t/a tractor. May be hard to find a good one. The t/a tractors wear the splines also but get replaced at t/a rebuilds if needed. Also able to buy the coupling for those.

Do you have a good machinist near you? I have had some built up by the one in town. He does such a nice job, you have a hard time seening where the old splines and the built up part starts. I had him do 2. They were for tractors with T/A"s in them. one 806, and one 856.

have a non TA tractor for parts we would have to take it apart and see what we have give me a call (785)966-2739 days or (785)966-0038 eves

That would work, only the inner surface of the other side, within the small gear, (it makes up the outer race for the pilot bearing) is pitted really bad.

You could always put a TA in it.

Easiest thing to do would be to find a TA section out of another 400 or 450 and swap it in for yours.

Even if you welded up the TA and never used it at least you could find parts for the IPTO drive.
