MD compression #'s

Still working on "starting problems" on gas side of my 52 MD. Checked the compression #'s on the gas side and got these results:
#1 100 psi
#2 112 psi
#3 80 psi !!!
#4 90 psi !!

Would this be enough to cause to only "SPUTTER"
whentrying to start?

Any suggestions?

Thanks, John

There alittle on the low side but a dirty carb or poor timing can lead to that as well. I would clean out the carb first and check to make sure it is properly adjusted. Also make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb from the starting tank.

Check the distributor cam bearing and point gap. These are sputter causing issues. No play in the bearing is allowed, .001 max. If a mag .013" if distributor, .020" on high point of dist cam. Jim
