When using the hydraulics on my farmall 340 they make a squealing noise when moving an implement or the two point hitch up and down. Any thoughts. I also am unable to lift the tractor off the ground even an inch with the front end loader. I have had loaders on tractors before and know I should be able to lift it off the ground. Any thoughts?

Is it going over relief at the control valve maybe?

Just guessing, but it sounds like if the hydraulics are weak and it is making a "squealing" sound,Maybe the relief is sticking,or has been set too low?Best guess without actually being there.

I forgot to include that the loader will lift anything thats in it. Its the down presure thats the issue.

There could be a lowering restrictor (limiting the rate of downward movement in case of hose failure. There could be one in each cylinder. The restrictor could be causing full pressure to be exceeded and making the relief squeel. Restrictors can be had that allow different flows.. Jim

Check your fluid level. My 340 squeals at the safety valve (I think that's what it's called- it's the valve at the left end of the stack where the fluid enters from the pump) when it's sucking air. I have to run the fluid a few gallons over full to support the loader.
