Cub manifold

I ve been having trouble getting a cub I bought to run smooth.Good spark,I ve put #1 on compression stroke and tried to time it,but all it does is run and miss.compression 120lbs all cylinders.2 diffrent carbs, then I ve tried to rebuild them,no luck so far. But today while tinkering, black liquid I think unburnt gas came spraying out the back of the manifold. It looks like a round hole not a rust hole but I see no plug that came out,is there a plug in the back? I see the one in the front but this other one s smaller like a pin would go in there? Thanks Dick

There is a weep hole to let water out IIRC.

Nothing should come SPRAYING out of that hole. Something is wrong.

Are you sure something hasn't built a nest in the muffler? Mud daubers perhaps? Try removing the muffler.

Thanks for the reply, it s a brand mew muffler so maybe i ll try the old one.I do see exhaust out the top, Do you happen to know what I would plug the hole with? thanks Dick

dont plug the hole, its there to drain rain water and condensation out of the manifold. use some compressed air and blow some in the hole with the muffler off and see if you get water spraying out of the exhaust outlet. if so blow as much out as you can, then let the tractor run and get good and warm to dry it all out. may want to pull spark plugs and check the cylinders for rust.

Compression - excellent.

Missing: Double check the ignition system and ignition timing.

Also put some Seafoam in the fuel and engine oil. Missing could be partially sticking valve(s).
