I finally got my A put back together today that I bought about a month ago. It wasn't running when I got it. I had to have the valves done and the radiator re-cored. I went to put the antifreeze into it and it started running out the opening on the bottom where the clutch is. It appears to be running down the back side of the block. Is it possible the block is cracked on the back side. There is no water running anywhere else. Could this thing have froze at one time and only cracked the back side. I guess I'm going to have to split the tractor and have a look - not something I wanted to do this year.

My first guess (emphasize guess) would be that you lost a freeze plug.

Probably rotted out.

The good news is they're easy to replace, the bad news is they're hard to get to. The only way to get there is to split the tractor and take the clutch off.

They do rot out. Welch plugs are notorious for doing that where they cannot be gotten to W/O drama. The plug is a common size, a relacement that exands with a bolt (or the original style) can be used. Jim
