i posted this on the tractor talk forum and got 2 different answers so i'll try here...have a 1952 farmall super M, i want to put the live hydraulic pump on, it has the belly pump,..can i do so without modifications....? and can i use the belly pump area for hydraulic reservoir

Yes our M has a M&W live pump that draws oil from the belly pump. They welded a pipe coupler in the bottom part of the reservoir thats on the suction side of the pump. Then you run the pressure side to a two way valve.

the pump will bolt right up to the super. for the belly pump resevoir, you can tee in to the drain plug and run a line to the suction side of the live pump, then plug the other opening in the tee for an oil drain. also, tee in to the fill pipe for the fluid return from the control valve. there was a kit years ago that m+w made that had a live pump and a delete plate for the belly pump that converted the pump to a holding resevoir. it made the belly pump non-operational. here are a couple picks of the plate.
