2606 oil pan removal

Hi guys. Still working on the my project. Now I can't get the oil pan off. It is a 2606 with C-263 and wide front axle. Pan has a hole that I need to get brazed shut. The pan either catches on the rear part of the bolster crossover or else on the front axle. The book just says to remove the steering cylinder but that still doesn't give me room to get it out. I have it jacked up and the only thing left to do is remove the four bolts that hold the front axle on. Just thought I'd ask before unbolting the front axle. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Well I had to remove the axle. Now I hope it doesn't fall off the jack till I get it fixed.

Question now is how much torque to use on the bolts when I put it back on? And should I use any copper coat spray, aviation #3 gasket sealer, or anything else? I also had one bolt that was longer than the others and am wondering if there is a place for it or else maybe it replaced a lost one. Thanks.

The torque answer is different. I tighten them all up equally just untill the gasket is touching evenly all the way around. Then I tighten each an additional amount until the gasket is just bulging a noticable amount (not puching out, just deformed enough to assure a seal.
I put high tac gasket goo on the pan surface, and leave the block clean. This allows the gasket to stick to the pan while installing it, and come easily off of the block later. Jim
