Farmall 896 LP

Tractor poor

New User
I have an 806 LP, I put a new carburator on it and rebuilt the vaporizer as well. The tank is 62 gallons. I am thinking a full tank should last me a least a day, but it does not I get about 6.5 hours from a full tank. Is this normal?

What are you doing with the tractor?

When the 756 gas was the main power around the farm, Dad had to come back and fuel up mid-afternoon when plowing or chopping forage.

It would make sense that the LP tank is sized to provide similar "range" to the gasoline powered tractor.

in heavy work a lp will burn a lot of fuel my 656 gas will drain the tank in 4 hours easy i drove a 1466 one time chisel plowing 40 gal would last 4 hours

Tractor poor, Your 806 has a 48 gallon LP tank, not 62 that is straight from Tractor Data.com web-sight. In my mind on the std 48 gal tank then I would think your hrs sound right. Not to dispute your word here have you looked at the tag on the tank or you guessing or what?
For My Dads Farmall M, fill it up and start up a 8:00 am, do not stop for lunch and about 3:30 to 4:00pm the tank was bone dry, tractor in 3 gear and full throttle pulling a 8ft oneway disk plow.
Hope this helps.

PS The DSL tank is 42 gal DSL, The 806/856 the same 48 gal LP tank, would be used on the on the 806/856 too. they are basicly the same, Large frame tractor. What I am saying it doesn't say any thing about larger tanks That I have seen.
Unless that tank is some kind of an aftermarket tank installed at the farm.
Hope this helps.

John A.

48 is right John, i own an 806LP

LP tanks are size stamped as X gallons W.C. The W.C. is water capacity. Since they are only to be filled 80% with LP the actual amount of gallons of LP is only 80% of the capacity that is on the ID plate.
