I leterally have a nuts and bolts question on my M: have a flat on my front tire, I have every reason to believe that these are the orignal lugs/bolts and nuts. They are frozen.
I figured by eye that the nuts used an 1" socket, but when I went to buy an open end wrench now figure they might be anywhere from 15/16 to an inch to an inch and a quarter.
Anyone know for sure (I am 6 hours away from where the tractor is parked).
Are any of the threads reversed (they wouldn't let me use the other name)? I know on my old jeeps, they are.

thanks

I have had a few Hs and they have had a few different sizes on them. Those bolts seem to be popular ones to experiment with different sizes. If you have a Harbor Freight or similar store near you you can get a cheap set of combination wrenches and have a nice assortment for your future needs. I have had some tractors that had 2 or 3 different sizes on the same wheel.

Rim type and wheel to match with 3 loop mounting uses 5/8 inch diameter bolts. If there original bolts they probably have a 7/8 head and 7/8 or 15/16 nut. But anything from 7/8 to 1-1/8 can be found now. Also some can be found with a smaller diameter bolt someone used so all the above sizes could be off.

Zach - That's been my experience too. When I got my Super M I found it required 3 different wrench sizes (7/8, 15/16 and 1) to remove one of the wheels.

To this day I don't know which hex size is "correct".

[b:d3b0a95cb0]The original hardware on my MD (should be the same) are 15/16" square head 5/8" X 2.5" and 15/16" hex nuts.

That's sort of what I was afraid of. When I was trying to sort of figure out the size with an adjustible end wrench it looked like I was getting two different sizes.

I have three nice sets of wrenches for home and at the prpoerty, but they only go up to 7/8 (not mentioning the metric)

Thanks guys, looks like I will be getting some new tools along with the new tires.
