Question about attaching mower to Farmall B

Hello all.

I have a Woods L306 mower off a C and would like to put it on my B. The B had a L59 mower but it is gone now. All the brackets are still there and drive off the belt pulley. The "armstrong" lift is still on the B also.

The L306 ran off a bigger pulley on the back PTO. I have all the brackets for it also but would like to run it off the belt pulley rather than the PTO, mainly to keep my drawbar attached. Anybody tried this before? Would I need to get a different length of belt? If so, does anyone know how long?

The Woods manual I found on their website doesn't say anything about mounting under a B, just a C.

Thanks for your ideas.

i have a b with a woods 59 under it, the belt on mine runs of the belt pulley instead of the pto. i dont remember the belt length right off hand, but it seems like it was 205 or 235 inches long. the deck has quite a bit of forward-rearward adjustment, so i would guess a belt pretty close would work. i run the woods belts for the mower, i tried some from other suppliers, but the did not last very long. the belt on my cub has been on it for about 12 years, the b, about 10 years. belts are around 75 dollars or so, from way back when i replaced em.

If you mean you have the brackets from the B you are probably OK. But the C brackets won't fit the B. There are slight differences between the 59 and the 306 also. You can also download the B manual from the Woods website, far as I know. I have a manual for a Super A from that site.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the belt pulley spins more than twice as fast as the pto.

I would think you'd need to factor that in when choosing a pulley size. ?

Where do you find the manuals for the specific tractors on their site? I went to the underbelly mount mowers then downloaded the L306 manual. It just show how to mount to a Farmall C in it.

The belt pulley runs the mower on the B. The mount for the B is different than the two types used on the C,SC. You will need the B mounting parts and pulley used on the Belt pulley drive. The length of the B elt used on the B is 225

I have the mount and pulley for a B. I have the belt that was used when it was hooked up to the C. Will that work? Are they the same length?
