stronger 4 gear in a666

looking to make my 4 gear stronger in my 666 has anyone ever doubled them up or do i have to have them made and were would be agood place to go thanks for any help

You need to start googling "short run gear hobber" or something similar. Some places will probably have the blank in stock and only need to broach the bore. This would apply to the countershaft gear if it is not a compound gear. Mainshaft gear is a different story. A fork collar will need to be turned on it and the fifth direct dog teeth hobbed out. That's beginning to sound expensive.

Can't see how one gear will suffice. You may need the meshing gear as well. However, the fourth countershaft gear will be stronger than the mainshaft gear because it is larger in diameter and the pitch angle will be less.

But you need to talk to a gear guy to get knowledgeable answers. Get some photos (with dimensions added) and email them to the gear fabricators.

I think my first contact would be Ed Leaman of Leaman Tractor Sales. He has produced a number of high performance parts for IH tractors, albeit larger ones than yours. He may have something you can use. If not, he can probably send you to an outfit that will make the gear.

You would need to double check everything, but think you may be able to use a international 656 R&P and use a lower transmission gear thats stronger for the same ground speed if wanted. 18-49 R&P compared to 13-49 in yours.
