Valve Bracket Bolt Torque....

I have to put the H back together & get to it. The snow isn't getting any further away & I need to get the property cleaned up. There's only a couple hours of light duty loader work left to do & then I can pretend I'm "Blue Ribbon Certified" all winter long. Yes, I fully understand the gasket could let loose again the instant I start it back up. I need to take that bit of a gamble. My big behind is just that darned far behind. So, do I tighten down the rockers with the 21-24 ft-lbs that the bolt chart suggests or do they get tightened tighter?

Thanks,
Mike

Any bolt that doesn't have a spec in the IH book gets torqued to bolt chart specs. Don't forget coarse vs fine have differnt torques.

Sorry for not answering the question in your other thread. I forgot all about it. BTW, I do agree with Tom that it isn't as big of a deal to reuse the headgasket if it never saw heat.

No problem, I'm bad at forgetting posts at times, too. I have the head squished down again & am as far as replacing the angled brace for the steering wheel support. Taking five now to let my back rest. The torque chart, in the Cub/Cub Lo-Boy service manual (reprinted, CaseIH) does not differentiate between coarse & fine thread, which I find odd. The shop manual for the H has no torque chart.
