What is the best engine oil to be using in an IHC 1066? I am running three different engines in my tractors and trying to limit the different types of oils I'm buying.

I use Rotella 15-40 in my 9 tractor, two trucks and 4 garden tractor.I use Castrol GTX 10-30 in Impala LT. I drove semi for a freight line for 38 years. They used Rotella 15-40 the last 25 years. They had less oil related problems with Rotella.

I use IH oils, and even converted my 97 powerstroke to IH oil from JD. To each their own. I converted for the same reason you are............tired of buying different oils for different tractors.

I'm planning on running straight 30 W Rotella in my H, kinda remember using 30W in the summer on my uncle's H's , & light straight W when it got cold. Also aways remembering to park on the barn hill to, to pop-start, he was never good about keeping a good battery. But now a days I can pop start almost anything with just a little hill !,needless to say my equipment is not like his was !!

I rn 15-40W Rotella in everything with a farm engine in it, Ford N, Farmall M and 1206 and the industrial GM in the swather.

The book was written when the tractor was built. Times change and the technology of oil is so drastically better now than then. The idea of multi Wt. oils was not proven, and had issues of teething that raised doubts back then. There are no doubts now. The lubricity is better, the starting in cold weather is far better, the stability and high temperature tolerance is in a different ball park. Major league.
15-40 from a known quality name is correct. Jim
