Quick question, did anyone every produce a fasthitch rototiller for the SA/100/130/140 offset tractors????

I know Howard made a L28 Rotovator for the CUB, did they make a model for the SA-140 series tractors?

As always any comments or opinions are always welcomed.

I don't know if anybody did or not, but I can't imagine that it would have worked very well.

First gear on those tractors would be pretty fast for a rototiller to work right, and they didn't have live PTO which would have been another problem.

That's how I see it, others may have a different take on it.

Yeah, I'll second that.

PTO you could live with, but they really are geared a little too high.

Even throttled all the way down in first, I dread hitting a big rock when plowing with a super A.

The reason I asked was, there is a local auction with a 100 and under the one point equipment was listed a rototiller. The only tractor the guy owned was a 100 and all the other items was fast hitch 100 equipment. Unfortunately no pictures of the item.
I thought I'd go to the sale and have a look see if it was listed wrong or cobbled up or really for a 100.
Just wanted to ask beforehand was one ever made.

Thanks for the info.

The Howard CUB rototiller includes a speed reducer gearbox that bolts in between the transmission and final drive. It cut each gear's speed in by 2/3 or better.

For a tiller to work on a Super A or 100, it would need a similar speed reducer gearbox.

Wish I could say yes or no, all I can say is I've never seen one or heard of one.

... but that's really not saying much.

IH made a unit they called a Hydro-creeper, that could be fitted to a 140, 100 also, that gave you a slow speed, but I guess you couldn't use it for any pto driven equipment, as the Hydro-creeper used the pto to drive the tractor. We used it so we could pull a cucumber picker, real slow, about 1 ft/ minute

IF a self powered tiller is used, it will be Ok. In 1st gear idled downm with a engine on the tiller making 15 to 20 HP it would be fair to fine in operation, To go slow and have power is not an option. Adapted planetary rear hubs would also work. The PTO is powered by the trans, so it must be kept at speed. Jim
