I have been having trouble getting my tractor started and it will only start after I let off of the starter. Does this always mean the starter is draining the power? Thanks

Although I have never experienced that, I suppose if the battery is low and using all the current, if your ignition, points, plugs, wires, etc are in good shape, when you release the starter maybe enough power gets to the coil and points to allow it to start. I have hand cranked a Super A, when the starter would not turn over at all, yet with a "dead" battery there was still enough current to start the tractor. With the pull type starter, I have no other explanation. I have noticed that with a combination key switch and starter switch with a charged battery--different situation.
