3588 radiator replacement

I have a rented 3588. The radiator fins went to hell and are leaking beyond repair. I am very capeable of replacing it but was wondering if I could get some input before getting started with the project. The owner bought a new radiator and asked if I wanted to put it in. I am thinking that if I tackle and complete this project, he may very well waive the rental fee. This could work out for both of us. Any input would be great. Thanks, Shane

BT,DT, got the "T" shirt.

NOT a big deal. Just LOTS of fan parts and ducting to get out of the way! It's NOT a "ten-minute job"!

I'll just add that it comes out straight up, long lift. We had a little bracket and used a cherry picker.

I too have completed this task. The worse part was getting the blasted hood off. Myself and a big strong lad lifted it straight up after undoing about a dozen bolts on each side. It was alot easier than splitting that rascal and replacing the pins and bushings.

Shane, as I racall there is a stop on the track in the very front tha has to come out to allow the hood to slide completely off. It's been a while since I had one but, two guys can handle that front piece of the hood as I had to replace mine in the field. You can handle that with a little help.

If you have a concrete floor and a creeper it works good to just lift the front up over it's stop with hood fully open and set nose on the creeper and wheel it out of the way. I am not a big guy but did a ton of them myself.
