Jackson Power Steering.....

well i just got done installing my Jackson Power Steering system on my 1956 300U and gotta say WOW it's Fantastic! install was a breeze and it was worth every penny. thing steers like a new car.

Pictures please. Include some close-ups as well. There are many people with Utilities who would be grateful. Some of them might have the resources to put together their own systems at a lower cost than a purchased kit.

I don't own a Ute but would like to see how it was designed.

hi Wardner, out of respect for the hard work Roland put into his steering system design it wouldnt be right to post pictures, sorry.
but i can assure you by the time you purchase an orbital motor, hydraulic pistons, priority valve, filter assemble, and then spent the time having hoses made and making brackets you wouldnt save a dime doing it yourself.
im a mechanic by trade and i couldnt beat his pricing for the whole kit.

Mike,

I understand your position but there are many people on this board who are not in the market to purchase new and won't. This is one of the reasons why we tinker with 50-60 year old machines.

Some, such as my self, have an inventory of unused parts or access to cheap used components. It's possible that someone might like the challenge of assembling their own system.

I made an hydrostatic steering system last year for my W400. I have less than $250 in it. Mostly a few hoses, fittings, and a double ended cylinder from the Surplus Center. The cylinder was selected because it was new (and hassle-free) and cheap at around $100. The installation looks like something IH could have built although the components are not contemporary with the age of the tractor.

Just wanted to see the level of craftsmanship that Roland sells as well as help others ponder their own systems. Chances are that a few forum members might be so impressed that they get motivated to buy the kit. That would be good for Jackson Power Steering.

Mike: I understand your concern for Roland but all the technogy and parts are aviable on any used self-propelled combine that has orbital power steering so anybody that is mechinicale incline can build their own for about the price Wardner stated and have a dependable system. Just remember the make and model of combine should you need parts. My son and I took the parts from a John Deere 55 combine and put the system on a Cub Cadet that has a loader and backhoe on it. Steering works good. Now that about this I have a Cub Cadet that has bad steering. Time to hunt for another old combine. Armand

yes if your lucky and have access to used parts thats a plus. i searched ebay and other sites and just missed out on a deal for an orbital motor for 125.00 bucks, another guy who put power on an old massey got a motor and a steering column for 150.00.
you can find the parts used but it takes some searching..
