I have a 1960 b275 diesel that is leaking from where you would split the tractor.Could someone tell me what is leaking and if i have to split the tractor?also a friend said to put lucas oil stop leak in to see if it is a seal it may stop it.thanks paul

Take a piece of white printer paper. Pull the dip stick and place a drop of the oil on the paper.
Check the trans oil and using the dipstick, or a straw to get a sample, put it next to the engine oil. Do the same for hydraulic oil. then collect a drip from the underside, and compare the spots. This will tell you which it is. Will you need to split it? Yes. Will a seal conditioner help. Maybe, but they are specifically made to swell rubber and make seals stop leaking while you sell the unit to someone who then needs to replace all the seals as they fall apart. Not recommended by me. it is 80 90 gear oil that is leaking so it is coming from the trans.the tractor sat for 2 years that is why i would like to know if it is a seal or a gasket. thanks paul.i bought it for scrap price and i have some loader work for it in the spring and summer then it will do a lot of sitting so i don;t want to spend a lot on it.
