I have a noisey transmision. When you push in the clutch the noise goes away. How do I check the oil in the tranny. All I see is a drain plug. Thanks for any help. I want to thank everyone that helped when it would not start. I did what you all said and it runs like a clock now. Thanks again

whig with a clean pan drain the gear case if the lube is clean you can reuse it if it has water in flush it out only holds about 2qts lube fill plug is rear of shift cover in friendship gene bradley

well, I just did mine last winter. I took the shifter off to flush out the accumulated crud. There are 2 oil channels that direct splashed oil to the front and rear bearings. I was glad I took the shifter off, as the rear channel was completely crudded up.

Really not a bad job. Drain the old oil, take the shifter plate off. Flush with kero. Let drain overnight. put plugs back in. fill 'er up. replace shifter.

all in a day's work..........

Tom Fleming You were right on the money. I took the cover off and it looked like mud in there. The oil gutter wasfull of slug and both oil holes were pluged.Flushed it out good and let drain over night. Will refill it tomorrow and see if it quiets down. Thanks for the help.

Guys happy to help. Glad it worked out for the both of you. That is the wonderful thing about this site. Many of the regulars have truly, "been there, done that". My knowledge is a combination of book learning, school of hard knocks, and most importantly, listening to other who have "been there done that".
