ALERT! Bad Check

So, here we go again. I have a bad check here written on a closed account by Thomas M Durdin of either Shelbyville, TN or Eva, TN. The phone number on the check has been disconnected and the account closed before the check was written. It"s really sad that people feel the need to have to do this to people within the antique tractor community. Most are so nice.

Well, 2 things. 1.) if they sent you the check through the mail, you can file a fraud charge with the post office. 2.) IF you shipped them merchandise, then you have the shipping address. Call the local magistrate for that address and see what happens.

Lastly, sorry that this happened to you.

If he sent that check through the U.S. Mail I would contact your Post Office. He may be facing federal charges. Hal

His phone number is 731-584-7997 and he was born in 1927. Hal
PS: You can find him using zabasearch.com

In our small county, the prosecuting attorney will collect bad checks for the face amount. Any amounts over the check he uses for the kids soccer league.

I went thru almost the same thing two months ago. I was taken for $8,000.00 from a man around Nashville TN. FORGET the law, thats a bigger joke. If it don't involve sitting along the road sitting up speed traps and them collecting money form people trying to make a honest living that does not involve any work on there part, then you are out of luck......

For a person that old, he may be deceased and someone go hold of his old checks. The account would have been closed during the settlement of the estate.

Agree. Mr. Durbin is probably not at fault, other than allowing his unused checks on a closed account to fall into the hands of someone unscrupulous. And if he died, he really can't be blamed at all. But it is a good reminder to destroy all leftover checks when we close an account.

theres about 155 miles between Eva Tn and ShelbyvilleTn theres no tellin who really wrote that check

sorry you got beat. not all of us Tn boys would do that to way :(
