I bought a 1943 farmall h and one of the back tires about 50% tread left it's a 10/38 no decimal in the size i was wondering when they went to using a decimal on the tire sizes.
Thanks

I dont know what you are putting them on but if you have 13 inch right now 14.9 will be a lot biger. You should maybe go to a 13.6-38 i think thats the right size but i know there is a 13 inch tire and im pretty sure its called a 13.6.38.

Nope. Not so Eric. 13.6 replaced the old 12 in tire. What the deal is they stopped measuring tread width and started measuring the tire at it's widest point. Same tire, different measurement.

(quoted from post at 20:36:01 10/14/11) Yes old 13x38 = 14.9X38.
In many cases, the 15.5" replaced the old 13". 14.9x38s are hard to find around here. Smaller diameter 14.9s seem to be more common... 14.9x24s are what is on my 240U.
