IH 300 crank?

hey guy's, i have my 300U disabled at this time and was just wondering which way the crank pulley turns when looking at the motor from the front, clockwise or counter clockwise?

Lots of unknowables can be figured out. For instance, look at the fan and visualize the direction it must turn to pull air. Or look at the hand-cranking sleeve that engages the end of the crankshaft. Or just bump the starter. Or remove the starter and see what way it turns. Or put the tractor in fifth gear and rock it with the ignition off. Look at the fan while doing that.

Anyway 99%+ motors turn in the same direction. Exceptions would be some marine engines and special industrial engines.

Yes, some tractors have pusher fans but you would know that if you ever walked in front of a non-moving running tractor that is set up that way.

Hi Wardner: I like your instructions... Well said in several ways. Would be nice if your type of instructions were posted more often. Teach a man to fish rather then just giving him one? ag

Add to the list that a hand crank cannot be used in an incorrect direction. The engagement stub on the crank would spin the crank into orbit if it allowed the engine to be turned backwards. Jim
