140 Quit Running

Was mowing today with my 140, ran fine for about 2 hours, then it developed a slight miss, I took it to the barn, shut it off,it would not restart, I noticed gas driping from the carb, let it set for about 30 minutes, it then started and ran fine for the rest of the day,,,any thoughts on what my problem was,,maybe the float was stuck? Thanks

All letter and early number series tractors will leak out of the bottom of the carb if they are difficult to start and you give it too much choke. The miss could be about anything. If it ran ok afterwards and only does that occasionally it is probably a little rust or crud in your gas tank. In other words not enough fuel flow.

When a coil gets good and hot, it can break down. The symptom you describe would fit that scenario perfectly. If the problem becomes chronic, I'd suggest you consider replacing the coil. Mike
