Have my grandpa's old International Harvester Hat for sale on Ebay, I never seen one of these other than Grandpa's. I would say 1960's. Will be fun to see how much it brings. Anyone else ever see one before?

Why are you selling a link to your Grandfather???????? Do you need the money that bad? You will come to regret this decision for the rest of your life in my opinion. I wish I had my old hat back. Hang that hat on the wall in memory of your Grandfather and enjoy! Armand

My dad and Grand-dad had a garage where the sold and serviced Ih equipment from 1941 to 1971. I have the old porcelain IH sign, about 3 feet by 4 feet, from the building...and because of WHERE it's from, no amount of money will make me part with it.

When I die, my kids will probably sell that FIRST...because they DIDN'T grow up in the garage, and I DID.

Don't you realize what we're teaching our kids these days? PEOPLE [and memories] are expendable; it's the MONEY that's important. [That's why the ascendant political philosophy in our country is about saving MONEY and not about saving PEOPLE.]

How we live our lives says more about our beliefs than that short hour or so we spend in church on Sundays. And kids learn by what they SEE, moreso than by what we TELL them is important to us. We TELL people how "Christian" our nation is, but then we spend all week robbing Peter and cheating Paul out of what we owe him. Kids aren't blind, and they aren't stupid...they're simply inexperienced.

But then...I'm younger than 60, so I still have a lot more to see...and learn.

I still have the one just like your Grandpa's from the mid-1950's that my uncle bought me when I was about 12 or 13. I wouldn't take any amount of money for mine and it sits on a shelf in my den along with all my memorable items from my youth. You need to think long and hard about selling this item as it will most likely be regretful in your later years. I still have many items of my Grandpa's as I spent every summer on the farm with Grandpa, Grandma and my Uncle Floyd and had some of the most memorable times of my youth, Hal.

Not only is he selling a piece of his family"s history, he"s getting some free advertising by telling everyone it"s for sale on EPay. I, too wouldn"t sell if it were my Grandfather"s.

I have two, belonged to my two Uncles. (I guess my Dad preferred straw hats!)

BTW, they're not "hard hats", they are "pith helmets"!
Oh, PITH

Grandpa must not have meant anything to you. When my Grandfather passed away 3 years ago at age 98, I got my hands on anything I could keep. Never will sell his stuff.

Yea, Ive got 5 of them. But they dont have a new decal on them. Im thinking this may have been grandpas, but the decal sure does look alot better to me than the rest of it!

To all scolding this kid for selling his grandfathers helmet, go read the add. He/the family are trying to raise funds for medical expenses.

Don't judge too quick.

Hey DONT SELL the hat. You will regret it some day. Hang on to it for the next generations, they dont make stuff like this anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it was for medical expenses, why didn't he mention that here? We get prayer requests for sick, infirm, and injured people on this forum ALL THE TIME. There are many here who are suckers for a good sob story.

I don't think anybody's sick. I don't think this is Grampa's helmet. I think this is all a clever ploy to get us to look and bid on the helmet.

(quoted from post at 10:10:13 10/10/11) I checked listings on eBay and there's no hat like what he's showing currently on auction.

If you type in International Helmet you will get a hit. The eBay ad says it is for nursing home stuff, but the thing is the nursing home can't steal assets. I would pass out all the stuff that belongs to Grandpa and then let them have the house. That is the only stuff they can really get ahold of.

who knows what is right. Hard to tell. modern times make me weary and yearn for yesterday. In my family, no one went to a nursing home. you were at home or in the hosptial. I grew up my whole life living with great aunts, grandma's etc. In my family, we took care of those who tended to us when we were young.

I guess that concept is dying out just like personal responsibility.

If this is truly to pay for the nursing home, then I hope he gets good money. If not, what goes around comes around.................... in either case, it is sad on many fronts.
