Cub serial #

A neighbor just bought a cub that has been painted with a brush and looks awful. He"s working on it but can"t tell original color. Serial # is 232038 J. Seemes to be mfg in 1968. My neighbor believes it should be white and yellow. Can someone tell me waht the J is for? Thanks much.

Yeh if its an international cub its a 1968 and you can tell if it has a square front grill it was yellow and white. The red ones had a round grill.

In August 1960 the yellow came about. It was an option until somewhere in 1964 then the red became the option and yellow and white was the standard color. I have one of the first square fronts made in August 1963 and its red. I think the later ones were mostly yellow and white. Just my opinion.

400Dtractorman pretty well covered it, with one added note. The yellow option was in the order book well before 8/60. In 8/60 yellow became the standard color for Lo-Boys while the standard for Farmalls remained red.

By the way, the 8/60 yellow was the entire tractor. I think yellow/white came in '63 with the flat front tractors.
