i installed a new front seal in the motor on my 1660 combine, i had the dampner installed when i noticed that i had the fan belts jammed in behind the dampner, so i wiggled the dampner back off enough to get the belts off and continued on with the dampner i torqued everything up like the manual stated, i stated the motor up and i was leaking oil again right away, might i have ruined the seal taking the dampner on and off like i did?

I doubt if you hurt the seal when you pulled pulley off part way, but, did you remove pump to replace seal. They have to be in there near perfectly square or you have problems. That late of an engine should have the half moon key that is longer with squared off end so it doesn't ride up but I have seen keys that moved and bulged pulley in seal area. And, sometimes the darn seal just leaks and looks perfect. Been there.
