starter drive question

I have been trying to locate a starter drive for a 1949 farmall md. The only ones I have located so far appear to be one inch too short and won't engage the flywheel. Is it possible that there were two different drives for this tractor? Starter # 1108913. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Elm

Your starter (1108913) uses drive number 1183648. This site does show that drive but it is not listed correctly. Instead of looking for the drive under the MD listing or searching for the drive number, just search on the starter number. What comes up is the drive for the MD not the M as the listing says. Did you call them to verify that the length is correct for your starter? the 12 teeth is correct. The M uses a 10 tooth drive.

If all else fails, try Buesings in Davenport, Iowa.

They can perform miracles on starter-generator parts.

Elm,

This is a picture of the starter drive I have for a Farmall MD. It measures 5 5/8 overall length. Delco part number for this drive is 1883648. I hope this helps. charlie
