IH clamshell fender value?

Hey guys! This past summer, I got screwed on some clamshell fenders I bought off craigslist. Guy said they were straight, free of dents or bends, and free of pitting or rust through with only minor surface rust. They did not have any paint left however because they had been outside in a grass fire. Needless to say, upon getting the fenders, 6 of the 7 are dented or bent in some way and 2 of them are severly pitted along the top radius with some pinholes.

I dont have the time or skill to get them back into shape to go on my show tractors so would like to sell them. I hate to scrap them since they are originals. Every one of them would be use-able as is or fairly easily fixable. Anyway, I am prepared to take a loss on them just to get them out of my way and was wondering what a fair asking price would be????

Thanks!

P.S. - If anyone is interested, they are in central IA and my email is open. Once I get a fair price set, I will have them posted in the classifieds as well...

Take them to a body shop and have them preped, they can apint or you can, they will look like new and with all the new body shop technology they will be better than new

You'll spend a gall-dang fortune on body work. If they spend 4 hours per fender you're looking at minimum $200 per fender PLUS materials, and believe me a body guy can EASILY spend 4 hours per fender.

I think new aftermarket clamshell H/M style fenders are at least $175 each. Decent originals will bring at least that much if you sell them on ebay.

Unless they're totally beyond repair, you should be able to get $100+ per fender out of the rusty ones.

By the way, how could you have possibly gotten "screwed?" Didn't you drive to the seller's place and inspect the fenders before you paid for them? You should've seen that they weren't perfect before you plunked down any money. There should have been ample opportunity to walk away or negotiate a lower price because the fenders weren't as advertised.

You got took. Sell tnem as is for $50 apiece. One "good" one that has been through a fire, $100.

I have a very nice pair, have been sand blasted, epoxy primered, some filler applied, and board sanded. Very straight, perfect rolled edges. No pinholes. Small radio holes were wire welded , sanded and repaired professionally. Ready for final primer and paint. I wouldn't take less than $350 for the pair.

Im in central IA and the fenders came from OK. Guy seemed respectable and sent me pictures of the fenders but they were all straight on views so the damages were not visible. Like I said he straight out lied to me and said they were all free of dents, bends, rust pitting and rust through... Guess I'll start at $150/pair and see what happens
