Question for Bob M,(Farmallbob) or others, Have a 41 H, still has the 6 volt system, Delco generator, & coil/distributor. Has the 4-position L-H-D-B light switch, & a voltage regulator mounted on top of the generator. Just had the gen. checked & new V.R. installed, after re-install, amp meter shows discharge when turning on lights if not running, so amp. meter working, but with the tractor running I'm not showing any charging. The #3 Farmall wiring diagram is close, but has the cut-out relay mounted, not a V.R., also have the starter switch mounted on the steering post. ?? Thanks AL

AL - Since the original cutout has been replaced by a VR, it needs to be wired per diagram #2.

Also good idea to repolarize the genny as jeffelex2 suggests!
wiring diagram no. 2

Bob, The guy that did the Gen. & installed the new VR had polarized it at his shop, if that's possible, told him it was positive ground. The #2 diagram shows a plain light switch, mine still has the 4 position switch, so that # 2 diagram isn't quite right ? Thanks, AL

AL - You're existing 4 position switch will work fine with the VR!

The wire from the generator F post to the light switch is eliminated. (Instead the generator F post is now connected the VR's F terminal).

And now the first two switch positions (L and H) are both simply "off" positions for the lights.

Bob M is in the top ranking credibility on this Forum. He has you covered, the switch is not used for gen control at all now. Any connection to it from the Reg, or Gen will confuse the system into non-function. Jim
