They remove my post

This is a discussion forum. Your post was a blatant for sale ad. That sort of posting belongs in the Marketplace section under Classified Ads.

What you have to understand is if one person gts away with it, and it does occasionally happen, that everyone will start doing it sooner or later, until this board(s) turn into one big classifed ad, or in TTalks case, one big OT forum.(Which I have yet to understand how that one works!) It wasnt anything personal against you, it was part of the rules of the forum.

"These forums are for tractor-related topics.
At all times treat each other with courtesy and respect.
Off-topic posts are accepted on a limited basis: No politics, religious discussions or topics that contain bigotry of any kind. These usually result in unkind words and take away from the friendly, helpful nature of this antique tractor community.
No advertising including For Sale or Wanted ads.
No site promotion."

It was a disscusion. And Im pretty sure I just read 15 post that were not about tractors. Its ok not real fair expecially from a site that sells me parts.LOL

These forums are for discussions,or at least thats what Ive been reading in other posts, but I think they are also for people who sit around with nothing better to do than flag your computer posts if you dont conform to the guidelines.Hey,Communists,Wasnt this country founded by folks who were tired of just that sort of control? Here's a tip,Your posts were probably flagged by at least one of the "FIRST RESPONDERS" on the scene after this post.

I didn't see the post. But I have flagged posts that used profanity and called me names. The decision is up to the moderator, though, not me. Iblock's must have been considerably out of line, though to get deleted. I have never flagged an ad--on maybe 50% of them I have responded and told the guy to put it in the classifieds.

This is the IH/Farmall TRACTOR forum, for discussion about IH/Farmall tractors.

IIRC your post was about a LAND ROVER, which is neither an IH/Farmall nor a tractor.

You probably would've been okay in Tractor Talk because anything seems to go over there.

If you'd posted an IH tractor for sale, it probably would've slid under the radar.

There are two places where you can post your land rover for sale on this site...

You were so far out in left field with that post, they had no choice but to delete it.

Think about it... You don't see many for sale ads on this forum right? It's NOT because people don't have things to sell...

It's because there are rules about that and most people follow the rules.

Think about it... If you could post whatever you want "because we're friends" then ANYBODY could (and would) post ANYTHING, and the group would be rendered all but useless for its intended purpose.

Frankly, I think things like asking for prayers for sick family members have no place here either... It's another "because we're friends" thing that has nothing to do with IH tractors.

The difference being that it's NOT FOR FINANCIAL GAIN, I can respect the moderator's decision to let things like that slide.

This IS a forum just for IH tractors, and, like others, I can understand them filtering out unrelated stuff.

If they didn't do it, this place would be a useless mess.

And of course - the same could be said about THIS new thread...

All that being said - we cerainly appreciate your effort to offer the truck first to us!

Thank you for that.

Posted: Wed Oct 05, 2011 3:47 am Post subject: IH clamshell fender value?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys! This past summer, I got screwed on some clamshell fenders I bought off craigslist. Guy said they were straight, free of dents or bends, and free of pitting or rust through with only minor surface rust. They did not have any paint left however because they had been outside in a grass fire. Needless to say, upon getting the fenders, 6 of the 7 are dented or bent in some way and 2 of them are severly pitted along the top radius with some pinholes.

I dont have the time or skill to get them back into shape to go on my show tractors so would like to sell them. I hate to scrap them since they are originals. Every one of them would be use-able as is or fairly easily fixable. Anyway, I am prepared to take a loss on them just to get them out of my way and was wondering what a fair asking price would be????

Thanks!

P.S. - If anyone is interested, they are in central IA and my email is open. Once I get a fair price set, I will have them posted in the classifieds as well...

Looks like an add Better get him.
Also I used no profantiy.Had no price no email or phone #just a description of my truck. That turned into a coversation that u deleted all im sayin look up same thing ^

Iblock, he is basically asking what price he should ask, also indicating that anyone that wants them to let him know. I told him $50 each, others had other ideas. I never considered that an ad. The responses he received were serious answers that were the responders opinions, and on the subject.

There are some posts that turn into ads pretty quickly and that fender one could be one of them. My other favorite is the "What's it worth" ads that are pretty much for sale ads.

I forgot, your post didn't belong IMO. It was really confusing and it wasn't close to tractor related.

Curiosity will get more views than anything.
Plus there are 10 people that are posting/watching so if they view the new responses 3 times each the math adds up pretty fast.

I'm over it, too. Don't worry about the fenders, I thought the same thing when I saw the post.

We get "how much is it worth" posts all the time.

It's a gray area. They're not BLATANTLY offering the item for sale, as you were. That's the difference.

Yeah, the "my email is open" part is really stepping over the line, but at least he started with a SOMEWHAT valid question regarding IH/Farmall.

Too much moderation drives people away. So does not enough moderation.

They've got to strike a balance, and it's not going to seem "fair" sometimes, unless you can recognize that what you did is different from what the other guy did.

The differences here:

1. You posted a CAR for sale. It wasn't even IH red.
2. Your post had nothing to do with IH/Farmall.

(quoted from post at 15:38:25 10/04/11) Took my post about givin u guys first shot at the rover WTH?Went to respond said it didnt exist.
Iblock: You're lucky all they took was your post. Mike
