F 12 valve timing

Bought an F 12 recently but it doesn't run well. I am now checking the valve timing. The book says .013H , Does any one know what to set the valves at when the engine is cold? Thanks Craig

Page 33 of my 1935 F12 instruction book says to set valve clearance at .016. It says nothing about them being set hot.

To check the valve timing first set the valve clearance as above and then with number one piston at TDC rotate the engine just to the point all play is taken up in the intake valve lever. Then look on the flywheel there is an I/O mark on it and it should be within 3/8" either way of the timing mark on the bellhousing. If its not, your out of time and I would look at the front crank gear, I have found a couple that ate up the keyway and were loose enough to affect the valve timing.
