Super A Rear Tire Sizes

I am building a 51 Super A mostly for looks and wont run it much when done, trying to build a real show piece. Want a little more meat on the rear to look more filled out. I have seen many pics on the internet, but can't ask questions. Have asked a couple questions here and enjoy learning about this. Stock rimes are 9X24, tires, too. Would like to step up to 10X24 rims and go with a wider and little taller tire.

11.2-24 (old size 10-24) will fit either 9 or 10 inch rims and are in common use. If you have 8 inch rims for 9 (9.5) inch tires they are a little narrow.

I had a 140 that had the 12.4 X 24 tires on it. I think they are too big. The 11.2 X 24 are the best tire for the 140. If you ever plan on using a belly mower, the 12.4 tires won't work at all as they will interfer with the mower.

Yes, 12.4's will increase the speed too much, also. 11.2's almost result in too fast speeds for my Woods mower.

Thanks for all the great info everyone. I have never worked on a tractor before, but have been an aircraft mechanic for 25 years and look forward to the challenge. I am not real concerned about different tire sizes changing the final drive ratio (speed) as I will not be using it for any kind of real work. Just want it to look good, like a tractor, when I'm done. I have posted some pics, and will be posting a lot more questions over the coming month's, ha-ha.

I would not go larger than 11.2 x 24 which is old 10 x 24. Larger size will increase your speed too much and reduce your power, plus they won't look right and will interfear with some implements.
