i have a madison silo, made of block, that i need moved. does anyone know a ball park figure on moving these silos. im in pa so i know the amish will move it but have no idea who to call. i need only to move it 50 yards to my new barn site. any help would be great thanks

About 12 years ago a neighbor had one moved by the Amish from one farm to another and cost 10,000. I do not remember how big it was but am in Iowa. Good Luck!

The common cost is half the price of a new silo. When they rebuild it have them put the blocks that were on top on the bottom and the bottom ones on top, kinda have it up side down. the blocks that were on top have less wear and stress on them and vice a versa.

It might be cheaper in the long run to build a 50 yard long enclosed walkway or some such thing, as it is quite an undertaking in terms of labor plus there is the cost of pouring a new foundation.

Look in the lancaster farming newspaper. There are tons of silo guys in there. I cant see that it would cost that much. The neighbor just had an amish crew put up a new stave silo. Somewhere around a 12x 60. After the foundation was poured, the crew had the silo up in two days.

My dad use to build silos for Madison Silo out of their corporate office in Madison, WI. Here's a photo of my Madison silo. It's now the walkway down to my detached garage. Good luck with your project. They are relatively easy to move once the new foundation is poured. It's nothing but Legos for big boys is all!
