Farmall Model: F-AA

Today, I looked at two old Farmall Tractors. Old, rusted; but plates were easily readable: Model F-AA.

The tractors had factory hydraulics and pto. One had the normal pto shaft straight to the rear AND a shaft to the right with a pulley on it.

Decal very faded but could certainly make out Farmall, then towards the front and below, there was the cirle with "A" in it. Could not find "Super" anywhere.

Questions:
1. Did the Farmall "A" come with factory hydraulics and PTO?
2. How does the "regular" Farmall A list the model number on the plate?
3. Anyone ever heard of an F-AA? If so, what is the difference in A, AA, and Super A?

Thanks.

The A did not come with factory hydraulics. A very late one "may" have the hole for the factory pump, but it also needs a flat spot on the clutch housing for the reservoir, or else have one from a Super A added. The A and Super A both had a model designation of FAA, no -. There was no AA. Although an option, most had the PTO and belt pulley you described. If you will post the serial number someone will tell you when it was built, or you can look it up yourself to your left. Look for Serial Numbers under Research and Info.

Regretably I did not get the serial number of either. They're out of town, but I may have someone go back and get some photos of the tractors and of the SN.

In all respects, it appears to me that the hydraulics were factory installed.

Thanks for the info. It is quite possible that I could not read "Super" on the circular "A" sticker.

Remember too that there are at least two different "super a" stickers.

The word "super" may be in large letters at the top - or on the earlier models that put the word "cultivision" on the sticker, the word "super" is on a little banner shaped thing that goes across the A, and may be hard to see.

I'll see if I can manage to upload a picture here to show you what I'm talking about.

Either way, if it's got the big hydraulics box under the tank infront of the battery, it's a super A.

To be clear - I just realized the picture I uploaded had the sticker for the Super AV - but it's the same for the Super A of the same year (minus the V).

The V just means it's a high clearance model.

Thanks.

It does have the hydraulic box in the right place and clearly all hdy items were built right on at the factory. Yep, they're Super A.

Anything on the A, B, and Super A can be changed. Local CaseIH dealer has a "B" on the showroom floor with the wrong color wheels, factory hydraulics, torque tube, and engine off of another tractor(s). He was a Case dealer when Tenneco merged IH with Case, so knows little about the older Farmalls. However it is an interesting looking tractor.

FAA is the serial number prefix for ALL Farmall A and Super A tractors. Serial number of 250001 or higher is a Super A.

If it has the hydraulics, it is a Super A.
