What would you offer? Good ol H

Was helping a friend cut wood for the winter last night and came across a H with a loader. I saw it had been mowed around all summer so I asked the son-in-law of the owner about it. It does not run at the current time and has been sitting (inside) for several years. They never used it for moving snow because it was to hard to drive. My question is what would be a fair price, keep in mind it has sat and doesn't currently run. It is all complete and tires all hold air. What am i getting into on the hyro system on the loader? I have resserected tractors before with good luck so the "fixing" part is half the fun! Thanks for the advice.

I bought an H parts machine with a loader and the loader was fine, it may depend on whether the loader was left with the cylinders extended or retracted. If the are retracted they would be less likely to be rusty, I'd think. The major factor of value to me would be whether the engine is stuck or loose. If it is stuck it may take more money to get it going.

Not running with an engine that will rotate, and a usable loader and good enough tires 1200 Engine stuck 800. Jim

"Won't stay running" means the engine does start?

That improves the value quite a bit, but the problem could be as simple as an ignition/carburetor tuneup, or it could be major problems like valves.

See if they will let you run a compression check. If the compression is good and consistent across all four cylinders, you should be able to get it running right with some minor work.

$800 to $1200 sounds about right depending on the tires... They "hold air" but are they usable?

Two tons at scrap price would be around $500 -$600 plus the value of the tires. Assume the worst, if it is an easy fix it would already be fixed. $800 sounds fair, it could be a real money pit.

If you are buying it to resell $1200 is too much. $600 is plenty because you don't really know anything about it. It can get pricy quickly.

Eric P. Since the tractor DOESN'T run it is a "Dead tractor" Unless the family wants to get it running First!....$1200 to $1500 +/-.
Since it is dead, ALL you do is based off of Wt of the tractor (New Shipping wt.) and estimated wt. of the loader.
Est. wt X local price of Short or Long Iron.
In my estimation $600 to $800 TOPS!
Hope this helps!

This one was less than 1200 a few months ago. Good runner with 9 speed trans.
