Had trouble with hard starting. Changed plugs, points, condenser, and cleaned carb. checked compression and found #3 to be 50#. The rest were 125. Pulled head and checked vavles a nd gasket, all looked good. What am I missing? This tractor isused for mowing.

Broken or sticking rings will cause that. I would pour say a 1/2 cup of ATF in the cylinder if you have the head still off and see if it seeps past the rings over night

Feel the top of that cylinder with your finger nail to see if there's much of a ridge. It may be getting worn. Hal

Ya and the ATF smells bad but cost half of what the MMO cost and ya the MMO smells good but cost more. Me I stay with the low cost and bad smell LOL

Old, I can't argue with you too much on that one! Every once in awhile, MMO goes on sale at the local walmart. I buy 8-10 large bottles of it, and it lasts me well into the next sale. But I do agree, it sure do smell better!

I keep a stock of PB blaster bulk gallons and MMO on hand, and they are all "on sale" buys. Sad part is, I have had excellent results with Kroil, and that crap is REALLY expensive. I keep 1 small can on hand for working mags and smaller parts with rusted or corroded bolts/screws. Not sure what is in it, but I like it and it really works for me.
